Battleground Geist - MTG by ClintCearley Battleground Geist - MTG by ClintCearley
For Magic: The Gathering's Innistrad set. Brief called for a spectral creature that is calling the spirits of dead warriors on a battlefield. I really have mixed feeling about this one. Time pressure caught me and some elements just didn't get handled the way I wanted. But I learned some valuable things about luminescence and workflow.

I think it's a She, like die walkure / valkyrie(s) who choose those who may die in battle and those who may live.
Looks skeletal and bug like or exoskeletal. The haze looks very natural and the purples, blues, whites give it a ominous and nightly feel. The perspective gives it an eerie starring-in-shock or onlooker who gazes at the scene in either fear or awe.

beautiful, with ethereal figures, flags and a bloody wasteland full of bodies (some of my favorite things in a picture) this is in my top 10 I've seen here

I like its luminous effect, along w/ the wings & its angel-cut sleeves^^ & the concept is beautiful too! :aww:

Wow, I appreciate your frank and candid opinion of your Innistrad art.

I think it looks great. It would be interesting to see what would be changed if time wasn't a factor.
